This is my 1982 Ford 1500. Proof meter read 352 hours when I got it, but no telling how many times it’s rolled over. It belonged to a golf course most of its life. The second owner tried to use a 6’ box blade, which was entirely too heavy. So in April 2016, it came home with me!
I mow my yard with it, but once I got into tillage work, I had to source ag tires. Then I discovered how light it was in the nose with the tiller, and weights were expensive, so I made a rock box. I also added a ROPS last summer (no current pictures) and may make a canopy soon. In 2019 I investigated the lights and decided to mount them in the fenders like its bigger bretheren of the same era, I think it turned out fairly well. I’ve also been meaning to (& with lessons learned from my YT16 project) convert the steering to hydraulic since the old gearboxes are notorious for wearing once the pitman shaft seal leaks [notorious pitfall].
I absolutely love it, but wouldn’t mind having a 1700 or something slightly bigger for the 60” tiller.
